Here are some useful links to order camping gear:

    www.rei.com

    www.campmor.com

    www.coleman.com

    www.scoutdirect.com

(the Troop can make bulk orders)

    www.scoutstuff.org

(This is the official BSA site)

If your son is a new Scout then the most important piece

of gear initially is a good pack that can adjust as the boy grows.

Look at one of these sites for a youth backpack. Campmor has a decent initial pack for $40 called the Dragonfly (Item Number: 90387).

Decathalon in Guigliano has a great selection of camping gear to include packs, clothes and mess kits.  However I wouldn't buy a tent there because they are not well suited for backpacking.
